The later builds are for Windows Server, which is a different product, and support is pretty brief. It requires Software Assurance, and is for workloads where you need to quickly innovate to the latest Microsoft technologies. Depends of what you mean by latest version. As already mentioned above, the latest version for Windows Server would be Windows Server , and I would highly recommend you upgrading to the latest version since it has multiple real improvements compared to the predecessor. The third way is to virtualize your existing Windows Server installation on top of freshly installed Windows Server Hyper-V role and migrate the roles and applications one by one in a calm and timely fashion while everything is up and running.
