Please try again later. Verified Purchase. In my opinion this is one of George Winston’s best CDs! I liked the various styles explored in this set. There are many season recordings, and I picked this one because it has the Japanese Music Box piece, which is just so interesting.

It slows down ever so much at the end and even if you didn’t know it was a music box, one may think that. And it is. I love George Winston. Other recordings are also wonderful.

What a treasure he is. Love, love, love this cd! I’ve listened to George Winston since I was just a tiny kid and he was my first concert to boot. I’ve always loved his melodies and “Forest” is my favorite George Winston album.

I’m not great with music terminology so I can’t write some fancy review of how great the album is, but the music here is so relaxing and also stimulates mental clarity. I’ve listened to it while doing schoolwork and while trying to sleep though I mostly use “December” for sleep now. It’s great for both background and intentional listening. I just love it! This album consists of many short pieces, most of which are brooding and contemplative, the notable exceptions being the “snowman” tracks, which are delightfully upbeat.

I really do like “Forest”, I only wish more “happy” tunes were included to break up the melancholy, which is why I gave it four stars instead of five. The is nothing wrong with the musicianship which, as usual with Mr. Winston, excels. I ran across this beautiful music while sampling Prime music. I usually don’t listen to piano music much, but I was transfixed by the songs and the skill of their author. I have given gifts of this author’s work, so impressed was I. See all reviews.
