Compare versions. Create with powerful free video editing software. As far as I can reproduce the issue it always appears when the white highlight overlay is showing up over grouped clips. Moving the position Marker or quickly zooming the Timeline is showing up the spinning wheel of death a few seconds. No problems with a non-grouped clip in the same timeline by the way. No matter if media is local or via 10g fiber, always the same problem.

I have turned off “show marked regions” in the timeline and everything is very fast now. But this is a super annoying bug! I know you’re not supporting v Avid, but is there any way you can fix this? It should be the other way around. The same thing exists with dupe-detection, but that’s a bit more understandable since it has to compare so many segments.

AND it can be turned off easily. Maybe if you cannot fix the marked region issue, is it possible to make it something I can make a keyboard shortcut for? If I could turn it on and off easily, that might resolve the issue until I finally start using v! Unfortunately I don’t know how to put that on a shortcut.

I had a ticket with Avid about this, but I think they just don’t want to deal with Avid anymore. I even showed them the problem by sharing my screen, but I am also busy and they kept wanting to log in to my system but wouldn’t tell me what they were looking for. The problem is clearly real, so many people complain about it, but they claimed they had no “reproduceable evidence” for it. And then they closed my ticket. Very frustrating. Must have been 5 phone calls and at least one remote session.

All for naught. Also Avid, you need to figure out what is wrong with your phone system. This blurs the lines between actual deductive methods to find the cause and support tactics to delay and avoid acknowledgement the problems are Media composer related. No faul, but the back and forth comunication is time consuming and in my perception not always searching in the right direction and getting me closer to a solution.
