Of course, if you’re “upgrading” from much earlier versions of Microsoft Office, there will be a big learning curve with Office a huge nuisance if your needs are fairly simple, for you’ll have to learn brand-new ways of accomplishing the same tasks that you formerly did with ease. But if you already know about the infamous “ribbon” and such things, you won’t have much trouble. The three-license pack of MS Office has been steadily rising in price. I’m not sure why there is a run on this version, but perhaps it reflects disenchantment with the “new and improved” alternatives that came after it.

If you just need a single copy of Office instead of the 3-license key product that I’m reviewing here , you can currently find a downloadable version on Amazon for under 90 bucks. In any case, is receding, so it’s prudent to act sooner than later. One small but important detail: You’ll need a strong magnifying glass to read the product key that’s printed in micro-type on the package. Without that key correctly entered, you won’t have a functioning product.

I still hate the ribbon with a passion 10 years on. Making a “multilevel list” requires a full tutorial whereas it was a one-click job in Office So, the good bits, mostly it works ok. PowerPoint is actually not bad. The bad: The damned ribbon is a clumsy space hog and takes forever to customise.

It also takes more clicks to do anything than Office Struggles to handle any format other than. Over-complicated for Report abuse. The Licence Key printed on the packet showed up as “Invalid”. My need to get started working on documents so late in the afternoon sent a “help” request. Within minutes I had a replacement key but because I had a new installaton of Win7 a screen popped up saying there were important upgrades needing to be downloaded and installed!

These took an age and a half to complete and then I needed to install MS Office I received excellent help and encouragement all the way through this process and when I was finally ‘done’ after When loading the supplied Product Key onto my computer a window appeared stating I had potentially been the victim of pirated software and when trying and failing to uninstall the provided Office Home and Student DVD download my computer kept advising “Microsoft cannot verify the license for this application and will now shutdown”.
